How the scan works

From search to verified removal

IdentiGuard runs a real search of public people-search directories using the name and location you enter. You confirm each match yourself before any opt-out request is sent.

Four stages

What happens at each step

01

Directory search

We query public people-search directories with your first name, last name, and optional city and state. Each listing that comes back is shown as returned by the source.

02

Profile confirmation

You review the matches and mark the ones that belong to you. We exclude false positives so opt-out requests only target records you have confirmed.

03

Opt-out submission

For each confirmed listing, we submit the directory's removal request. Processing times vary by site, and some directories take several weeks to act.

04

Scheduled re-auditing

Directories refresh their data over time, so records can reappear. Paid plans re-run the search on a recurring schedule and flag any listing that returns.

Boundaries and timing

What the scanner can and cannot do

Scanning relies on what people-search directories publish, and those sources change without notice. A listing may be missing from one scan and appear in the next, and a directory can take time to honor a removal request. We report what each search returns rather than estimating coverage.

Removal is not guaranteed on every site, and we will not claim a listing is gone until a later scan confirms it. Where setup is still pending, we say so plainly, so you always know which steps are working and which still need attention.
